How can a restaurant get better-quality leads from Meta ads?
To get better leads for catering, events or large orders, Meta recommends connecting your CRM to the Conversions API and sending back what happened after the form: call, quote and booking. That unlocks the Conversion Leads optimization goal, which finds people similar to those who actually became customers, not just those who filled out a form.
For restaurants, lead campaigns usually mean catering requests, private events and large orders. A campaign that brings plenty of inquiries but few booked events is one of the most frustrating problems to solve, because in Ads Manager everything looks fine: cost per lead is good, volume is good. The problem is that a "lead" and a "customer" are different things, and by default the algorithm only sees the first.
What Meta recommends
The official recommendation is to connect your CRM to the Conversions API and send Meta the events that happen after the form is filled: who became a tasting or a call, who received a quote, who booked, and also who was not a qualified lead. That closes a loop that otherwise does not exist: the system receives the lead but never learns what happened next.
Volume vs. quality
With that information flowing back, the Conversion Leads optimization goal becomes available: instead of finding more people similar to "who fills out forms", the system starts finding more people similar to who actually became a customer. It is a change of target, not just one more number on the dashboard: the campaign stops optimizing for volume and starts optimizing for quality.
What it takes in practice
The good news is that many integrations do not require a developer: several CRM and commerce platforms can be connected in a few steps inside Meta’s Events Manager. The part that takes discipline is different: someone in the business has to mark and send these funnel stages consistently: call done, quote sent, event booked. An integration that exists only on paper, with no real data flowing, teaches the algorithm nothing.
That is why, when we set this up for a client, the work does not end with the technical setup. It includes agreeing on a simple process with the team for updating these stages in the CRM, so the data that goes back to Meta reflects reality.
